The first domestic 1850mm 0.15mm six roll cold rolling mill successfully put into operation
Recently, the first domestic "super-wide (1850mm) ultra-thin (0.15mm) high-performance six roll cold rolling mill" jointly developed by China Equipment Group and Yanshan Steel was successfully tested and put into production in one go in Tangshan, Hebei Province. This marks a major breakthrough in China's high-precision cold rolling equipment and high-end thin plate product manufacturing field, breaking the foreign technological monopoly.
Core technology breakthroughs achieve "millimeter-level precision"
This cold rolling mill integrates multiple internationally leading technologies:
1. Intelligent plate shape control system: It adopts the latest AI model and high-response hydraulic bending roll system, which can precisely adjust the roll gap shape in real time, ensuring the flatness of ultra-thin and ultra-wide strip steel during high-speed rolling, with an accuracy reaching the world's top level (I unit ≤ 5).
2. Double eccentricity fine adjustment technology for rolls: It solves the industry problem of low idle roll gap accuracy in traditional rolling mills, laying a solid foundation for the stable rolling of "paper-thin" strip steel.
3. Full-process digital twin platform: From raw materials to finished products, it realizes virtual monitoring and process optimization throughout the entire process, significantly improving production efficiency and the one-time pass rate of products.
Empowering high-end manufacturing and solving the "bottleneck" problem
The production line has successfully rolled 0.15mm ultra-thin high-strength steel, which is a core raw material for battery packs of new energy electric vehicles, structural components of high-end electronic products, and precision medical devices. Previously, products of this specification were highly dependent on imports. This commissioning not only achieved import substitution but also reduced the cost of the domestic related industrial chain by about 15%, significantly enhancing the security and competitiveness of the supply chain.

An expert from the Rolling Branch of the China Metallurgical Society said, "The success of this cold rolling mill is not only a breakthrough for a single piece of equipment, but also represents that China's full-chain capabilities in the design, manufacturing, and intelligent control of high-end cold rolling equipment have entered the world's first echelon. It provides a 'domestic heart' for the development of the next generation of thinner, stronger, and more energy-efficient steel products."
The successful commissioning of this project is expected to add an annual capacity of 300,000 tons of high value-added thin steel plates for Yanshan Iron and Steel, and drive the upgrading of the upstream and downstream industrial chains. This undoubtedly adds another significant weight to China's progress from a "steel manufacturing giant" to a "steel manufacturing power".
